Smugglers' Notch Resort Smugglers' Notch as seen from the access road Smugglers' Notch Resort is a ski resort region in the Town of Cambridge, near Jeffersonville, Vermont.

Its vertical drop of 2,610 feet (800 m) is the fourth biggest in New England and the third biggest in Vermont. Its namesake is a narrow notch (mountain pass) running contiguous to Sterling Mountain, which smugglers used many years ago. Smugglers' Notch, nicknamed Smuggs, comprises of three mountain peaks: Morse, Madonna, and Sterling.

Smugglers' Notch was established in 1956 by a group of Vermont skiers.

Smugglers' Notch namesake comes from the smugglers of the early nineteenth century, who used the thick forest on the mountain range, and the caves and caverns along the Long Trail to transport illegal or embargoed goods athwart the Canada US border.

Scenic Smugglers' Notch proper consists Sterling Mountain/Spruce Peak ridgeline to the east and Mount Mansfield to the west.

Extremely steep terrain drops down into the notch where Vermont Route 108 winds through switchbacks below, connecting Smuggler's Notch Resort with contiguous Stowe Mountain Resort a several miles to the south.

A fleet of Hall double chairlifts service a range of terrain, including novice trails at Morse Mountain and The Village area, and intermediate and expert terrain on the chief mountain peaks, Sterling and Madonna.

Smugglers Notch is the only resort in Vermont with a triple black diamond. Smugglers' Notch Resort is owned by William Stritzler.

Smugglers Notch has various heated pools and ordered children's camps amid the summer as well as a canopy tour that involves both scenic hikes and zip lines.
